We are Split Second, two producers who share a passion for innovative performance. We collaborate with artists who are blurring the lines between circus, dance and theatre. Our ambition is to push the limit of what performance can be and create new and exciting experiences for artists and audiences, in the UK and internationally.

We founded Split Second in 2020, moved by the desire to create new opportunities for artists and allow them to widen their reach and the scope of their art. We work closely with a small number of artists, supporting their artistic development and building networks of supporters to facilitate their growth. We explore ways of experiencing art & culture in new and meaningful ways, including engaging, taking part and sharing responses.

Beyond the support we are offering to artists, Split Second is also our platform to challenge the norm: we want to create original, groundbreaking and sometimes challenging work for indoors, outdoor and digital spaces. We want to curate platforms for artists to showcase their talents. We want to be the voice of a scene that needs to be heard and recognised.

Sector support

We support the development of independent producers and artists through creating opportunities to build new skills, share resources and network. We work to strengthen the sector through consultations and being an active voice in international networks.

We are running a series of free development opportunities for artists and producers called Focal Point. The programme includes:

  • 1:1 artist mentoring sessions

  • Growing a digital support network for independent producers

  • Hosting a series of professional development labs on topics relevant to the shifting arts landscape

These free activities will assist with future planning, develop new skills and share resources to build resilience.

Consultants

We work with a wide range of organisations to bring our expertise on various topics. Our recent projects include:

  • Creation of a Practical Guide to Brexit for Xtrax. This guide is aimed at UK outdoor artists who are touring the EU post Brexit.

Networks

We are members of UK and European networks to exchange and share knowledge with our colleagues from other organisations and build pathways for international collaboration and touring. We want to add the voice of the artists we are working and of the wider British scene to the discussions on circus.
