Footprint in the Snow by Laura Moy - London, UK
Laura Moy will present a work in progress of her upcming show Footprint in the Snow as part of Resolution at The Place in London.
"In grief we can be altered and the landscape we inhabit becomes unrecognisable. Attempting to navigate it can sometimes feel impossible, for there are no words and somehow hanging by an elbow 6 metres in the air is the only space that feels safe." Drawing on the surreal experience of touring contemporary circus whilst facing the daily disorientation of debilitating traumatic grief, this is an extract of a solo work in progress, weaving use of Chinese pole and aerial into a bespoke soundscore. A deeply personal story that attempts to acknowledge what grief can be and the toll it can take.
“Laura Moy does precise, emotionally exquisite things on the Chinese pole." - Donald Hutera, The Times (on Flown)
“It’s hard to know which we found more impressive: her skill on the Chinese pole or her verbal dexterity. The rhythm and imagery of her poetry knocked us breathless.” - LucyLovesCircus (on Façade)
"Moy’s solo on the pole after it’s been uprooted and suspended is simply gorgeous.” - Donald Hutera, The Times (on FLOWN)
Duration: Approx. 20mins
